The First Hello
Their paths crossed at a Diwali party hosted by Sharvari’s next-door neighbors in Dallas. Nikhil, who is a relative of theirs, was visiting from Boston. Sharvari and Nikhil ended up sitting together, chatting away, and dancing for hours with family and friends. At one point, Sharvari's dad joined in and started teasing her, and Nikhil immediately stepped in to defend her.
They actually left the party without exchanging numbers, which led to a funny search the next morning. Sharvari looked Nikhil up on LinkedIn, while Nikhil was at home trying to figure out every possible way to spell "Sharvari" online. Luckily, the algorithm worked in their favor—Nikhil opened a matchmaking app that next day, and Sharvari's profile was the very first one that popped up. They reconnected instantly and started talking and FaceTiming every day.

When They Knew
After a month of endless FaceTimes and texts, Nikhil flew back down to Dallas. Sharvari picked him up from the airport and they grabbed a quick coffee before heading to his cousin’s house. When they arrived, Nikhil invited Sharvari inside, and she suddenly realized she was about to meet his family—along with her own next-door neighbors who knew her parents!
Though it was only their second time seeing each other in person, it felt incredibly natural. It was a little overwhelming but they were so happy to be there. They spent the whole weekend together, Nikhil met Sharvari's sister, and by the time the weekend ended, they both just knew this was it.

Life in Two Cities
From there, their relationship became a beautiful rhythm of traveling back and forth between Dallas and Boston. They made sure to make every visit count—Nikhil introduced Sharvari to the best of Boston (where she quickly fell in love with local cannolis), they cheered at basketball games, and they took weekend trips to NYC for Broadway shows and California for quick getaways.
More importantly, this was the time when their two worlds truly came together. They spent their weekends introducing each other to their closest friends, catching up with Nikhil's extended family in Dallas, and setting up FaceTime calls for their parents to connect. By the time Nikhil met Sharvari's parents in person, their families and friends were already a favorite part of their shared journey.

She Said Yes!
Nikhil managed to pull off a total surprise, though it almost didn’t happen after his flight was canceled at the last minute. He managed to make it to Dallas undetected, and even left his phone location set to his Boston apartment so Sharvari wouldn't suspect a thing. That Saturday, Sharvari was completely thrown off the scent, genuinely believing her sister was dragging her out to a sunflower patch for family photos.
Instead, the car made a sudden U-turn to a different spot. As soon as Sharvari spotted a few friends hiding, she realized what was happening! A violinist was playing their favorite songs, and their friends walked out holding bouquets right before Nikhil proposed. A few weeks later, they celebrated their formal engagement ceremony with their families and friends with a weekend of dancing, food, and festivities. Now, they are officially counting down to Kochi!
